The Gift

Sometimes a gift welcome, accepted,

By others is disdained, rejected.

Herod was troubled by the newborn king,

While shepherds heard the angels sing.

When they arrived there was no bed,

So they took shelter where beasts were fed.

The couple weary, travel-worn,

Were soon to witness their Baby born.

Herod closer did not espy,

What eastern Magi saw in the sky.

I think that maybe it might be,

That we only see what we want to see.

So as you look over your many lists,

Have you considered the Gift of gifts?

That first Gift for us all was born,

On that very first Christmas morn!

So what will your decision be,

To let Him in or bid Him leave?

Sometimes the Gift welcome, accepted,

By others is disdained, rejected.
