I read where White Evangelicals are the one group that is most resistant to being vaccinated. White Evangelicals may be the predominant demographic resisting vaccination, but they are not the only citizens resisting. Why is there resistance to getting vaccinated?
I have a cousin who worked in the medical field as a nurse until she retired. In a social media discussion about mandated vaccinations she opined that in the choice between personal freedom and saving lives she chose to get vaccinated. If I thought the issue was personal freedom versus saving lives, I would have already gotten vaccinated.
We have been told by government leaders through the mainstream news media that getting vaccinated makes one less susceptible to getting infected with the coronavirus, less likely to spread the virus if infected, and will have a better chance of experiencing milder symptoms and recovering if one contracts the virus.
Yet there are some news reports, firsthand accounts by medical professionals and people I know of where I live, that have been vaccinated, still contracted the coronavirus, have infected others and some have died. The reasons given for getting vaccinated appear to be false.
I have to wonder, based on what I am witnessing, are these incidents statistical outliers or are they just being under-reported by a liberal news media that seems to be nothing more than the propaganda branch of the Democratic Party. I honestly do not know.
When the Food and Drug Administration said the various vaccines had been approved as safe, President Biden was quick to hold a news conference so that those who had been waiting on FDA approval no longer had an excuse not to be vaccinated, and immediately left the lectern when the news media began asking questions.
This announcement came from the man who was Vice-President during the Benghazi fiasco and the President who recently ordered the botched evacuation of American troops and American sympathizers from Afghanistan. His judgment and subsequent honesty are in question.
The FDA is a branch of the federal government and President Biden is its boss. Is the FDA announcement that the coronavirus vaccines are now “safe” the result of being properly vetted medically, or fast-tracked by political coercion?
Jesus said we should not make oaths or to swear. He said, “But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no,’” Matthew 5:37. His point was, there is never a time when the Christian should be especially honest. Our ‘yes’ should be an honest ‘yes,’ and our ‘no’ an honest ‘no.’ Being consistently honest builds trust.
I think I was in elementary school when the polio vaccine was offered. I do not recall it being mandated, but when some drops of the vaccine were put on a sugar cube I readily popped it in my mouth. I was a child and sugar is delightfully sweet.
The mainstream news media and politicians could sweeten the idea of vaccination by merely being honest and building trust; mandates just sour the idea.
Gary, I’ve been working on a devotion about the issues surrounding the vaccine. Please pray for me for guidance.
I prayed for you to have wisdom from above. A devotional on the vaccines that is biblical and thoughtful will be, I think, difficult. I pray God gives you the wisdom you need.
You did a great job with this topic, Gary. Well done.
Thank you Sheryl!
