On October 7 Hamas launched an invasion of Israel and brutally slaughtered innocent citizens, killing women, children and babies, and taking hostages. While the casualties mount on both sides Israel has launched an invasion of the Gaza strip in retaliation. Many nations are calling for a ceasefire.
It seems Hamas can start a war and no one calls for a ceasefire until Israel begins to defend itself. And believers are asking is this a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Jesus did say before His return there would be “wars and rumors of wars,” Matthew 24:6. Of course there has been human conflict ever since Cain killed Abel, but I think Jesus envisioned a time when there will be and increase of war that will engulf the world. I can see in the current Israel and Hamas conflict how this could escalate into the Third World War and gives every indication of fulfilling the words of Christ.
Christians are called to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” Psalm 122:6. This should be the cry of our hearts during this season of war.
Since this invasion by Hamas started I have thought about writing about it, but felt like I had little to say about it and this article will be relatively short, but this is a fulfillment of several prophecies and their fulfillment is God showing us He knows where history is leading and He has complete control of circumstances.
Again I say, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
