My name is Gary B. King and I am the author of Christian Concepts.
I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior during the summer of 1960 when I was eight years old. When I graduated from Paxon High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1970, I joined the U. S. Army. I served in South Vietnam, returned home, married and started a family.
I had drifted away from the church as a teenager, but soon realized as a husband and father I wanted to raise my children in the faith I embraced as a child. In 1973 I began to take my Christianity seriously and on October 15, 1975, I surrendered to the Gospel ministry while praying in my dining room.
It was around this time I became aware that the Christian worldview was repeatedly misrepresented in the media and I began writing letters to the editor of my hometown newspaper the Florida Times-Union, in Jacksonville, Florida.
Encouraged by friends and others who complimented me on my writing, I decided to start writing a blog as a part of my ministry to explain and defend the Christian faith.
I worked for over fifteen years with CSX Transportation and over twenty-one years with the Florida Department of Corrections. I had other short-term jobs before and in between.
I went back to school at the age of forty-two in 1994. I graduated from Lake City Community College (now Florida Gateway College) earning an Associate of Arts degree.
I transferred to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Philosophy. I graduated in 1999 earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
I am currently finishing up my studies for my Master of Divinity Degree from Rockbridge Seminary.
I am continuously reading through my Bible. Monday through Friday I write a devotion or thought taken from a verse in the passage I read each day. In my Saturday article I typically address current events and issues from a biblical perspective.
My wife Joyce Ann and I live in Lake City, Florida and are members of the Orchard Community Church where we host a Life Transformation Group and serve as volunteers.
